What do the different Shopify Collective order payment statuses mean?

If automatic payments are off, your order always shows Payment pending. With automatic payments on, an order shows Payment pending until funds are debited from the retailer's Shopify Payments balance, then Paid once that happens; funds don't actually land in your balance until after you fulfill the order, even though the order shows as paid beforehand.
