From Whitehorse, Yukon, founder Katie Young is a devoted mom, an outdoor enthusiast, and a food lover – or, to put it more precisely “a popcorn-preneur” To Katie, popcorn is more than just a snack – it’s a vehicle for connection and joy. Klondike Kettle Corn started popping small batches to sell at the local farmers market in 2010 and quickly became the Yukon’s favourite snack.
Today they stay true to their beginnings as a community minded business that prides itself on creating a snack that brings people together, with the magic of the Yukon in every bite.
Katie, and Klondike Kettle Corn (say that five times fast) are all about Community! For the past 5 years, KKC has partnered with local groups, helping them fundraise with Klondike Kettle Corn. Environmental Stewardship is another of Klondike Kettle Corn’s core values and they are working toward getting their B Corp Certification. Combining their commitment to
community and the environment, this past summer, they participated in Venture for Canada’s Intrapreneurship Program, which offers a way for post-secondary students to gain virtual, paid work experience while contributing to the growth of a small business. Win-Win!
