Find Answers To All Your Questions

Do I need to list all of my products to work with Common Goods?

No. Listing your bestsellers is a great way to try Common Goods without distributing your entire catalogie.

Why aren't all of my products listed?

Common Goods is a curated marketplace. Our customers rely on us to provide a shopping experience that is easy to navigate and respects their time and attention. Our merchandising team may decide not to list some products for the following reasions:

  • Too many products for the size of our collection. Where possible, we try to prevent a single vendor from dominating any given collection.
  • Insufficient photo quality
  • Incomplete product details
  • Use of AI imagery that conflates the actual product attributes
  • Copyright infringement
  • Product does not fit existing collections or categories

Does Common Goods hold inventory or offer fulfillment services?

Not yet. Unified inventory storage and fulfillment is on our roadmap for 2027. Stay tuned.

Where can I update my brand details (policies, logo, etc).

You can find a link to update your brand information form by logging into your store profile (like a customer would). At the bottom of your profile page, click the link to update your brand details.

How are returns handled?

Common Goods displays and enforces your refund policies as submitted in your Brand Inforamtion form. For Shopify Collective vendors, the process for receiving a return request, approval, and return label creation flows through your admin just like a normal return request from your own website customers. There are no additional actions required.

  1. When a customer requests a refund, the refund request will land directly inside your e-commerce dashboard for you to approve. You will receive an email notification.
  2. Once approved, it is your responsibility to upload a prepaid shiping label within 2 days.
  3. Upon receipt of the returned product, we ask that you process returns within 7 business days of receipt.
  4. You must mark the item as returned and issue the correlating refund to Common Goods in order for the funds to be released to us to refund the customer. We ask that you do this in a timely manner to prevent unecessary customer service tickets.

Will you put my products on sale? Do you run any promotions?

We will never override or edit your product pricing. If you put your products on sale on your own store, the sale prices will synchronize to Common Goods as well by default. You can edit this in your product price list settings.

Common Goods does not offer any paid promotions but we do publish a weekly newsletter and seasonal merchandising to feature new collections and seasonal products. We reserve the right to run a site-wide promotions (e.g. welcome discount).

How does shipping reimbursement work? How do I set my rates?

By default, our integration will pull the same shipping rates you have set on your online sotre. Should you wish to edit this, you can do so in your Vendor Dashboard or Shopify Collective price list - whichever is relevant. These rates are what determines your shipping reimbursement.

Your shipping cost is completely independent from the shipping charged to our customers.

The price the customer pays at checkout for shipping their entire Common Goods order is not a sum of each vendor's shipping charges. Instead, we offer flat rate shipping on all orders, regardless of how many vendors are in the customer's cart.

How can I market to customers acquired through Common Goods

In compliance with our terms and conditions, using customer details to contact them directly for marketing or any other purpose is prohibited. Customers give consent on our site to be contacted by Common Goods only. This includes email addresses (customer emails are spoofed anyways), delivery addresses, and telephone numbers. Breach of this policy will result in immediate removal from our platform.

However, including a promotional insert (post card) inside your orders is a great way to engage with new customers and encourage them to visit your website directly. We recommend including a promo code specific to Common Goods to track acquisitions.

Why was my application declined?

If your products aren't the right fit for our platform at this time, you will have received an email notification listing the reason(s) why. These may include but are not limited to:

  • Too many negative customer reviews. (We consult a variety of review sources)
  • Incomplete product listings
  • Poor product image quality
  • Parent company is not Canadian
  • Products do not align with our collections or merchandising
  • Eggregious use of AI
