From your morning commute to spontaneous weekend getaways, Northern Sun creates versatile, eco-conscious outerwear that fits seamlessly into your life. Because when it comes to living in Canada, your gear should be as adaptable as you are.
Hi, I’m Jason. I grew up in Winnipeg and have spent much of my adult life in Ontario and British Columbia, so I know firsthand how unpredictable Canadian weather can be. Rain one day, deep freeze the next—I’ve lived it all.I’ve always been passionate about the outdoors and living an active lifestyle, but I’ve also been frustrated by inflation and the high cost of overly specialized gear. When the chance came to bring Northern Sun back to life, I jumped in—combining my love for Canada, the outdoors, retail, and design to create versatile, eco-friendly, outerwear built for everyday life in Canada.
Northern Sun was born in the late 1970s, inspired by the beauty of Canada’s winters and the adventurous spirit that comes with living here. But winter in Canada doesn’t play by the old rules anymore. One day it’s pouring rain, the next it’s icy winds cutting through the streets.
That unpredictability is a reminder that yesterday’s gear isn’t built for today’s Canada. That’s why we’ve spent the last three years redesigning Northern Sun—jackets built to adapt to whatever the season throws your way. Waterproof, windproof, and free of forever chemicals— they're made for when the forecast can’t be trusted.
