For over 30 years, we have made bags for your cycle trips, commute or everyday life. 80% of our bike bags are made right here in Quebec, Canada. We only use high quality and sustainable, recycled materials. Our designs integrate countless hours of experience on (and off) the bike.

Since 2003, we have been working with a lively crew from CRDITED Estrie – a social service program for people with intellectual disabilities and pervasive development disorders. They help with finishing touches, putting together our user guides, cutting bungee cords and webbing. They are family to us.

We were frustrated with the lack of high-quality, durable cycling bags on the market. We wanted to create panniers that could withstand the rigours of daily commuting and long-distance touring.

They designed and hand-sewed their first prototypes in a basement. Their bike panniers were soon available at local bike shops, and their reputation quickly grew because of the quality of their products.

Over the years, Arkel has moved to Sherbrooke, grown its team, expanded its distribution network internationally as well as diversified its product line. From that you can see the line of backpacks, sling bags and totes we also produce today.
