Original Blocks: Designed for maximum stability, our Original Blocks feature a larger, heavier surface area, making them exceptionally strong and supportive—ideal for balance-focused poses. (More sturdy than the Slim.)

CARE

For cleaning, cork is naturally antimicrobial. Occasionally, wipe clean with a damp cloth. Use soap, water and a soft cloth for cleaning.

SUSTAINABILITY

No trees are cut down during the process of stripping the cork. This block is biodegradable reducing the waste in landfills from the alternative of choosing toxic foam which is in other yoga blocks.

Scoria (pronounced Skor-ee-uh) is a naturally formed volcanic stone created when fire meets earth, lightweight, textured, and shaped by transformation. We chose the name as a symbol of becoming, a reminder that creativity, strength, and presence are often born through change. At Scoria, we design earth-crafted wellness tools that invite movement, self-expression, and a deeper connection to nature and self. Every piece is made to feel grounding yet playful, supporting rituals that are both intentional and alive.

In 2017, our founder, Yara Kamal, started Scoria after becoming more aware of the indirect societal pressures that surrounded her. She realized at the age of 18 that she had lost her sense of playfulness and creativity due to the fear of judgment and having to behave a certain way.

Yara began to research ways to reconnect again with childlike behaviours of being playful, having an active imagination, and appreciation for storytelling as a grown-up. While on this journey, she was inspired to create an eco-conscious yoga mat that would encourage others through brand messaging and artwork to spark their inner-child (who we are at the core). After reconnecting with these habits, her mental health and wellbeing had drastically improved.

Through Scoria, Yara has dedicated herself to shine a unique perspective on wellness and strives to create a space where others can fearlessly be themselves and #UnleashTheChildWithin. Since launching, we have sold over 10,000 cork yoga mats along with accessories, grown and developed into a team of 5 women, and have created a diverse, welcoming community.
